To help ease the wait for the official visual, Earl Sweatshirt‘s decided to drop what we call a typographic (aka lyric) video for his recent single “Chum“, bringing his wonderfully assembled words onto the screen for a neat black-and-white clip.
If you were having any difficulties grasping the Odd Future rapper’s melancholy stream of syllables, this really spells out Earl’s story for you. As the young lyricist describes his absent father, his rebel psyche and the intrusiveness of nasty journalists, his words hover like haunted handwriting on a blackboard. It’s eerie, and it makes me even more excited for a full visual.
Wolf Gang are of course busying themselves preparing for their anarchic future, meaning they’ve just announced their third annual Christmas show, to be held at The Observatory in Santa Ana, CA, on December 23rd. In Tyler‘s own words:
“Sick, Another OF Xmas Show. Remember Last Year When Tyler Got Arrested And Couldnt Throw Out The Gifts? Well, Lets Get To That Gift Part This Year. Tickets Go On Sale Monday, But If You Go To The OF Store This Weekend, You Can Prolly Get A Couple.”
