It feels good to hear some real R&B again. This joint reminds me of J Holiday‘s “Bed” and it quite conspicuously borrows from some classic slow jams that have come before it, but nonetheless it does the job and is climbing up the Billboard R&B Charts.
Lonny Bereal (awesome name) is a singer, songwriter and vocal producer who was nominated for a Grammy and won an ASCAP songwriting award in 2007 for his contribution to Tank‘s single “Please Don’t Go”. He started off as a backing vocalist for Jodeci’s K-Ci and JoJo and has written and produced for the likes of Keri Hilson, Chris Brown and Jamie Foxx.
I do find it amusing that Kelly Rowland (who quite openly defected to European Pop/Dance music just a couple of years ago) is one of the few artists (not named Trey Songz) who are really bringing back sexy R&B in 2011.
