Having performed the single with a choir at the American Music Awards last night, Nicki Minaj unveils the official video for “Freedom,” filmed in London earlier this month with director Colin Tilley at the helm.
Cue symbolic stairways, grounded boats, sincere stares to camera, atmospheric, foggy landscapes and, of course, her crown as Young Money’s rap star Barbie adeptly alternates between steady brags of her ‘pinkprint’ and career reflections. “Did I really body bitches with commercial songs?” she ponders over Boi-1da‘s production of her musical journey before admitting, “Even now, I think do I really want this fame?”
