You can’t help but feel that Rapsody had the strongest case for the female spot on XXL‘s Freshmen 12 list. Nevertheless, like many other rising emcees who got the snub too, the Jamla artist continues on her grind by presenting the video to her “Shining Moment”, off the newly released seven-track EP, The Black Mamba.
With production coming from Eric G, 1/7th of The Soul Council (a collective of IWWMG-affiliated beatsmiths that also includes 9th Wonder, Khrysis, E.Jones, Fatin, AMP and Ka$h) “Shining Moment” sees Rapsody explore a much more solemn tone over the non-traditional hip hop instrumental, but still delivers that characteristic reflective lyricism she has risen to acclaim with.
