As if the music itself wasn’t vivid enough, Brooklyn rep Sene presents more visuals to accompany material from his brooklynknight album, this time bringing the “Backboard” cut, which features frequent-collaborator Blu, to life. Pace Rivers and aaronisnotcool share the director’s credits, and brilliantly capture the punishing tones in Sene’s song through distorted and purple-filtered footage of his home city.
Bringing things full circle, the firefighter depicted towards the end is actually his brother (who taught Sene how to rap once upon a time). It wouldn’t surprise me if this earned a spot on many year-end lists as one of the best videos. Sene’s brooklynknight is out now.
