Brooklyn emcee Talib Kweli is back with a vengeance in his new video for the single “Upper Echelon” from his forthcoming Prisoner Of Conscious album.
Musically, this is a different, harder vibe from the seasoned rapper, synth-alarms and hand claps lead into a reworking of the drums made popular on Masta Ace’s “Born To Roll” as Kweli spits a barrage of potent bars.
The video, directed by Fredo Tovar and Scott Fleishman, threads together performance shots, concert footage with shots of Talib and his friends – Goapele and Yasiin Bey – as well as a bit of 3D for fun.

Talib Kweli’s latest long player Prisoner Of Conscious is due April 23.
