A$AP Rocky f/ Bun B, Paul Wall, Killa Kyleon – “Purple Swag” (H-Town All Stars Remix)

“Purple Swag” won’t make it onto A$AP Rocky‘s major label debut Long.Live.A$AP, but alongside his NYC breakthrough hit “Peso,” it remains one of Pretty Flacko’s most important tracks, for two reasons…

Firstly, the track and the visual which accompanied it functioned as the world’s introduction to the PMF. Secondly, it paid homage not to the traditional East Coast sound, but to the South, in particular the purple-slurped sounds of Houston, paving the way for the multi-centred inspiration of Live.Love.A$AP and Rocky’s nationwide success.

It’s only right then, that “Purple Swag” gets the official H-Town remix treatment, courtesy of two Texas legends who the Harlem rapper frequently cites as formative influences, Bun B and Paul Wall. Rapping alongside A$AP himself and current Houston favourite Killa Kyleon, they join the dots between old and new with OG trillness and Southern charm. Listen below:
