Dope Boy f/ Kendrick Lamar & Scoe – “Murda” | New Music

Michell C. Clark November 26, 2012 Hip Hop, Music, New Music Comments

Drawing upon a traditional west coast formula, Dope Boy releases a menacing, aggressive track detailing violent schemes and a rough mindset with “Murda,” his track featuring fellow west coasters Kendrick Lamar and Scoe. Police sirens, gunshot sound effects, and an anthemic chorus are reminiscent of gangster rap pioneers such as NWA.

Listeners will notice more complex wordplay than is typically included on similar releases. There’s no weak verse on this track, as all three emcees are completely willing to show their dark side, building upon the tension of the cinematic instrumental, which will be on Dope Boy’s upcoming ESKO mixtape. Listen to “Murda” below, and look out for ESKO in January 2013.
