Hip Hop, jazz and soul inspired producer Freddie Joachim first created a buzz in 2008 with the release of his full length project In With Time through Japanese label Subcontact, featuring the likes of Aloe Blacc, Blu, Othello and Profile among others. Two instrumental albums later – Study Guide and Midway – and after starting his own San Francisco based label Mellow Orange, the Philippines native returns with new track “Keep Lovin” from his upcoming album, Fiberglass Kisses.
Due for release on May 7, the track features Ms. Carlitta Durand who we know from collaborations with my personal favorite Little Brother as well as The Foreign Exchange, and who is also on the brink of releasing her upcoming project, I’ll Be Gorgeous When I Die.
The song is the epitome of a throwback hip-hop vibe, and Durand’s voice flows effortlessly over the production. Definitely going to get heavy rotation on my playlist – it makes me want to nod my head and dance outside in the heat with a popsicle — summer time vibe.
Stay peeled for Joachim’s upcoming album Fiberglass Kisses, featuring further collaborations with J. Mitchell, Miles Bonny, L. Santiago and Mar.
