Houston-born DJ Slim K keeps his hometown’s tradition alive by giving A$AP Mob‘s debut mixtape the Screw treatment and renaming it Purple Lord$ Never Worry (Chopped Not Slopped).
For the unfamiliar, “chopping” is a practice started in Houston in which a song is slowed down, dissected and distorted until it’s almost a totally new piece of music. It was made popular by late H-Town icon DJ Screw but is something any local DJ worth his weight in promethazine knows how to do.
Considering Rocky and the Mob’s mixed influences — which, naturally, include Houston’s music scene — it’s only right that their project gets chopped.
