Following his well received Hip Hop project The Supplierz, highly sought after British Hip Hop and Grime beatsmith VersA Beatz has once again decided to step into the forefront with an intriguing new 14 track concept based instrumental mixtape entitled IMOGEN.
Looking to distance himself from his trademark kicks and snares, as well as the new wave of up and coming British Hip Hop and Grime producers, Versa’s original idea for the tape was to go diggin’ in the creates, sampling music from Imogen Heap‘s critically acclaimed back catalogue as a tribute to the iconic English singer/composer.
However, during lab sessions the one man production beast, who has previous cooked up beats for the likes of Sway, Tinchy Stryder, Wiz Khalifa, S.A.S and Dot Rotten, felt that he didn’t want to limit himself to the Grammy Award-winning artist’s work and decided to dig for other samples to use, as well as those of Imogen Heap’s, for the project which in turn helped create the body of work’s ambient sound.
