Sway Calloway had two doses of talent (or just one, if we’re being honest with each other) this morning when Black Hippy‘s ScHoolboy Q and the new Interscope pick-up Chief Keef stopped by his Sway In The Morning radio spot. Aside from the customary chit chat, the host tasked the two emcees with a freestyle challenge.
First up was ScHoolboy, who lyrically assaulted Beanie Sigel‘s “The Truth”, before floundering a little over Biggie‘s “Dead Wrong”. He was legitimately freestyling, so we’ll give him a pass.
Next in line was Chicago’s hottest product, 16-year-old Keef, who delivered some very brief bars over the aforementioned Beans beat. We get it, he’s not a “lyrical” rapper, but for a guy who sold-out his debut New York show, you can’t help but to feel slightly (read: massively) unimpressed.
He also spoke on his song-making process, slurring through an answer that I think translates to he writes his lines before the instrumental’s even complete. Figured.
