They say there’s no rest for the wicked. In which case, Game is one evil man. Following a slew of early releases from his forthcoming mixtape California Republic (namely “Grey Stone” and “Bills Is Paid“), Compton’s foremost emcee calls upon his kick-pushing pals Lupe Fiasco and Pharrell for the latest, and arguably best, cut thus far.
“Skate On” marks new territory for all involved. Not only is this the first lyrical encounter between Game and Lupe, but Pharrell’s production is certainly unfamiliar, swaying from his usual melodic funk to deliver some multi-layered, organ-heavy soul for the West Coast king. Mission: channel the energy of Dr. Dre complete.
