Well, here’s a surprising collaboration. In the midst of shuffling back to “real hip-hop” with his upcoming album, Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album, following his previous critically-panned effort, Lasers, Lupe Fiasco lends a guest verse to Australian pop star Guy Sebastian for his new single, “Battle Scars.” The anthemic love song, which sees the pair’s different styles mesh well over a rich piano sequence and backing drum rhythm, hits iTunes on August 10th, and will land on the singer’s upcoming seventh LP, Armageddon.
Although yet to conquer territory here in the UK, Guy Sebastian is a big deal in his homeland. Since winning the inaugural Australian Idol back in 2003, the pop crooner has gone on to release six top 10 platinum/multi-platinum albums, and even holds the record for the highest selling song in Australia in the last decade with “Angels Brought Me Here.” No doubt his next album will earn him more accolades.
