After contributing to Big Sean‘s Detroit mixtape, rapping on Smoke DZA’s K.O.N.Y and lending verses to Kid Cudi‘s resurgent “Just What I Am“, the man formerly known as Chip Tha Ripper is back with a track of his own.
“Ask A Baby”, sees Cleveland Chip rap over a chilled, Cardo-produced beat with his unique flow- which manages to sound lazy even in double-time. Whilst the chorus, which consists of a indecipherable baby noise and a chopped-up King Chip hook, doesn’t work that much for me, the verses and production are top quality, and this track is well worth checking for.
The underground favourite’s debut album Charles Worth is set to appear some time in the next few months, whilst this track could well be a prelude to Chip’s upcoming mixtape, Clevifornia. Stay tuned for more news.
