Mikky Ekko has to be one of the most exciting talents in the world of pop as the new year begins. After appearing on Rihanna’s vulnerable Unapologetic single “Stay,” the Louisiana-hailing vocal prodigy made an impressive entrance onto the scene in 2012, and with a debut album featuring collaborations with acclaimed producers Paul Epworth, Clams Casino, John Hill and David Sitek in the works, there’s every chance he’ll become a regular fixture on the radio in the next few months.
It’s only right then, that he was invited onto Annie Mac’s Radio 1 show today to deliver two stunning live lounge tracks for a very lucky British audience; which combined should help him win a few more fans.
Listen to his cover of The xx‘s Coexist single “Chained” below, and stay streaming for Mikky’s still-more impressive rendition of the heartbreaking track which helped him make a name for himself, the Clams Casino- produced “Pull Me Down“. It’s one of the most moving performances I’ve heard all year (hahaha, I’ll stop now, because it really is incredible).
