I haven’t had a chance to listen to Dead Prez‘s new album Information Age yet but here’s a new track from one half of the duo that’s well worth a listen. “Genocide Highway” sees M-1 link up with Nas in a track dedicated to one of black America’s early martyrs, Denmark Vesey, who purchased his freedom on 9th November 1799, only to sacrifice everything in an 1822 attempt to lead a slave rebellion in Carolina. Over loud, funky production the two rappers paint vivid pictures of the death-stalked communities they themselves grew up in, whilst Beatnick and K Salaam take control of the beat and hook.
