With his debut album, the critically acclaimed exploration of the 1991 Rodney King beating and the following 1992 riots, L.A. Riot still getting spins over here at SC:HQ, wordsmith Yannick “Thurz” Koffi drops off his latest project in the form of 517 W Queen Tape.
After teasing us with the impressive “Are You Not“, “L.N.S” and “Another Number“, the former U-N-I member feeds our hunger with the 16 track mixtape named after the emcee’s old building in California and featurs guest appearances from Killer Mike, BJ The Chicago Kid, Johnny Polygon and more.
“This mixtape serves as the prequel to my sophomore album “Blood on the Canvas,” in which I supply a diverse sound and showcase my abilities to attack records, rap my a** off, have fun, and provide good, original music. “L.A. Riot” served as the foundation for re-establishing myself as a solo artist, in which I took a concept and connected with my state of mind at the present time. I am grateful that you guys were on board for that ride. It means a lot to me, and I only want to give you the best.” – Thurz
