Nas f/ Ginuwine – “You Owe Me” (Sango Edit) | New Music

Seattle-based producer Sango has always been in his element adding percussive elements and extra atmosphere to innovative RnB cuts, and this is no exception. Having released an EP filled with The Weeknd remixes, as well as one-off remixes of Aaliyah, the xx, Frank Ocean, Drake and Little Dragon, the post-dubstep artist (pardon the genre jargon) has now decided to take on an RnB-influenced gem from Nas‘ flawed ’99 album Nastradamus.

Listening to the original “You Owe Me” a collaboration with RnB superstar Ginuwine, it’s striking just how well suited the vocals and Timbaland’s forward-thinking production are for the present. Sango’s onto a winner before he’s even touched the thing. Nonetheless, he refuses to stick to the script, and makes the song his own by slowing down and speeding up the vocals, adding thudding bass and bringing in some laser-ish synth pads.
