Nicki Minaj – “Freedom” | New Music

Sam Gould November 4, 2012 Hip Hop, Music, New Music Comments

“Freedom” might not mark an end to the bubblegum nonsense pop that has both made Nicki Minaj such a commercial success and such a difficult listen for me but it really is the best thing I’ve heard from her in a long while.

The track is the latest single from her forthcoming Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up (out November 19th) and it manages to use her teen-girl appeal in a way that is soft and subtle, and moreover, genuinely emotive. I could babble on and on about how it’s like a sadder, more effective, “Moment For Life” and how I now feel like a guilty hater but I think I’ll just let Nicki do the talking…
