Diplo/Major Lazer gives a Moombahton spin to summer anthem “Party Shot” by dancehall’s current leading star Popcaan. [Get familiar with the original banger here.]

For those unfamiliar with Moombahton, it’s basically electro-dancehall, but the drum sequencing tends to draw from the sound of dancehall we associate with reggaeton. Those familiar with the origins of reggaeton know the importance of Shabba Ranks‘ “Dem Bow.” Well, that’s from what I’ve gathered from moombahton anyway.

I heard Diplo play a Major Lazer special of the original at their recent gig in Shepherds Bush right here in London.
