Robert Glasper x Yasiin Bey – “Black Radio” (Pete Rock remix) | New Music

The genius that is Robert Glasper returns with another remix from his Black Radio Recovered project and once again, he’s managed to flip an already great track, “Black Radio,” into a different kind of great track.

Calling upon the talents of legendary producer Pete Rock to take on the album’s title track/lead-single, Glasper brings us some wonderful surprises with this one. The first things you’ll notice are rougher drums and deeper bass, which give the track more of a boom-bap feel. This enhances, rather than takes away from the original sound, making Yasiin Bey‘s “You are rockin’ with the best” chant sound rather more at home.

At the same time, if you listen closely enough you’ll find that the overall structure of Glasper’s composition remains. The same mellow jazz keys which make the original such a lush soundscape survive in the background, and even as the percussion and bass have us nodding away, they close out the track with class and elegance.

It really inspiring that blacks are doing things for themselves and that they are companies like black berry.I am not about the race thing but it nice that are all starting to be equal and doing things together
