Shawn Chrystopher joins forces with Compton native and Pharrell protege Buddy to release “Who Mad,” a syrupy jam produced by Zaire Koalo.
Avid hip-hop fans will notice that this track samples Beach House’s “Silver Souls” , the same track used for Kendrick Lamar’s “Money Trees.” Zaire distorts, chops, and speeds the sample up to ensure that the track still holds a degree of originality to it.
Shawn and Buddy come across as two confident, successful emcees who aren’t afraid to floss their work ethic and subsequent material success. Shawn describes “Who Mad” as a “warm up” that might not make the final cut for his upcoming album, The Lovestory LP which is set to release on February 12th.
