Miami-based producer-rapper SpaceGhostPurrp is crossing the pond and surprising many faces today as he announces the release of his debut album, The Chronicles of SpaceGhostPurrp, on June 12th via UK record label, 4AD.
The LP will compile both old and new material from SPG, the frontman of the Trillwave collective Raider Klan (characterised as “RVDXR KLVN”) who’s popularity has grown exponentially thanks to his dark, spacey and lo-fi sound that echoes from ’90s syrup-sippin’ favourites like Three 6 Mafia and DJ Screw.
Headlining New York’s Highline Ballroom alongside Smoke DZA and nabbing production credits on Wiz Khalifa‘s Taylor Allderdice mixtape (for “T.A.P.”) haven’t hindered anything.
Although the news comes from far left, considering 4AD’s main identity is rooted in indie and alternative acts like Bon Iver, The Big Pink and Grimes, it appears that SpaceGhost’s forthcoming record will supply more of that rich, Sprite-laced product by judge of the early sample, “No Evidence,” below.
