Tinashe – “BOSS (The 83rd Remix)” | New Music

When Brooklyn remix fiend The 83rd surprised us with a stuttering, pitched-down mash-up of Jamie xx, Gil Scott-Heron‘s vocals and Angel Haze‘s “New York” (originally their own production), he left us desperate for more.

Now he’s back with another dose of remix goodness, pairing A$AP Rocky‘s syrupy, Southern-oriented “Peso” with the dark, forward-thinking RnB of RCA’s newest vocal talent, Tinashe. This is my introduction to Tinashe and it’s one hell of a first impression. The 83rd take her already distant vocals on “BOSS” and have them ride waves of rattling percussion, bass and trillness, until eventually they’re washed up alongside those dreamy wind-chimes from the LiveLoveA$AP hit single, somewhere on the road to Houston.
