Not only are we granted full permission to blast out the music of the legendary Biggie Smalls today in commemoration of what would have been the late emcee’s 40th birthday, but Yasiin Bey, formerly known as Mos Def, reemerges once more to drop the precise but aptly titled “Bey” in tribute to Christopher Wallace. Continuing his Top 40 Underdog series – the previous installment being his “N***s In Poorest” cover honoring Malcom X – the Brooklyn-bred emcees steers Lil Wayne and Rick Ross‘ “John” in a new direction. Even under a new moniker, Mos continues to amaze.
