During an interview with Okayplayer after the annual Roots Picnic, the original God MC Rakim revealed that he’s putting together his fifth solo album.
“I’m definitely workin’ on another album. We got the Paid In Full 25th anniversary and I just wanna complete my legacy the way I think my fans want me to,” he said, referring to his seminal 1987 debut alongside DJ and producer Eric B. A new Rakim album would be his first since 2007′s The Seventh Seal.
Since he had just finished performing Paid In Full in its entirety with the Roots Crew backing him, Rakim also gave his opinion on live bands in Hip-Hop and the impact they could have on the genre.
