Tyler, The Creator has never concealed his dislike for traditional hip-hop and its elitist crowd. Littered throughout the internet, it won’t take you long to find a quote or a clip of the Odd Future frontman swatting away comprarisons with Wu-Tang Clan or diminishing Illmatic‘s transcendent legacy. Apparently, he only made the “Yonkers” beat as a piss-take of ’90s East Coast hip-hop.
The Golf Wang rapper is on the end of his fair share of criticism, though. It’ll take you an even shorter amount of time to stumble across another rapper’s discontent for his music, a harsh, often close-minded album review or a YouTuber who believes their bitter opinion actually counts for something (read: keyboard warrior).
“Opinions are like assholes, everyone’s got one” is the saying, in which case Tyler pulled a moonie recently by venting his thoughts via his Twitter account. He shared these words:
I Genuinely Hate The People Who Would Ever Say ‘Hip Hop Died’ Or Some Corny Shit Like That. “If This Is Considered Hip Hop, We A….” STFU

This Is Not 94 Nigga, Grow Up, It Is 2012, Not Everybody Wanna Hear That Shit You Been Playing Since Niggas Was Born. Its New Stuff My Guy

(It’s not known if this was a response to former Flipmode Squad member Rah Digga‘s diss track aimed at the OFWGKTA member but we are sure it will be revealed soon enough.)
Do you agree with Tyler that we should just embrace today’s hip-hop? Or do you think the genre has really died? Hit us in the c-section below.

[...] this young black man / It’s too bad you probably lost your only black fan.” Tyler has already responded in typical fashion, i.e. via Twitter. Listen to Rah Digga’s track after the jump and let us [...]
Tyler the Creator is garbage and he is a RETARD!
i feel like tyler has a point….theres plenty artist i dont care for and thats ok i just wont listen….where did this attitude of “if i dont lke it it doesnt deserve respect” come from? this guy did it his way and is making good money having fun….i cant hate that and those who can just dont listen…its that simple….theres way to many other ways to find the music you want to hear to complain about anything….radio is dead…its all internet, itunes, pandora now….find what you like and ignore what you dont
The world at large loves a black male who is a fool. So called hip hop has been dumbed down to 1st grade level.Ignorance + no skills is profitable.
Dude’s a complete asshole. He’s the one going around acting like a 5 year old, smashing shit up everywhere he goes – he’s the one who needs to grow up. He has the mentality of a 13 year old; his music, his interviews and his tweets prove this.
Plus that shit about the “Yonkers” beat being a ‘piss-take’ is hilarious. Every beat on ‘Bastard’ and ‘Goblin’ sounded exactly the same as that one.
Tyler said in an interview that he doesn’t even listen to ’90s New York rap, but he made “Yonkers” to mock that grimy, hardcore sound, that’s what I was referring to. Give it up for the man, that’s irony and genius at its best.
But Yonkers is the reason OFWGKTA blew up mainstream….PERIOD!! So he hates the sound that actually made him popular? their new song “Oldie” which mocks old east coast hip-hop is their most popular song since Yonkers…so what does that say? Everybody is expecting them to bring that old grimey rap back because they have the ingredients and potential…they better get with the program or end up in the graveyard
That’s probably why he hates purist hip-hop, because the fans try to box him in to a certain sound that he should be “bringing back”. Besides, they won’t end up in the graveyard if they don’t make true school hip hop because that’s not what makes money today.
nah dude that’s really not irony and genius. that’s satire. just because tyler is capable of satire doesn’t mean he’s not a dick. once he starts respecting, maybe i’ll start too.
tyler isnt hiphop so he shouldnt talk about it. he’s an hipster. its ridiculous to mention him and the clan or him and rah digga in one sentence. his fans are rich, young college dudes with their noses full of cocaine.
